Inspired Energy’s roots go back to 1994 as a division of Energizer Power Systems, the rechargeable OEM division of Eveready Battery Company. Energizer’s Intelligent Power Electronics Group (IPE Group) was created to explore the emerging needs for smart batteries employing electronic circuitry within lithium ion and nickel-metal hydride battery packs, to enhance safety and performance. In the years following its inception, the IPE Group, created a range of standard and custom battery products sold under the Energizer brand.
Energizer’s IPE group worked with Intel, Duracell, National Semiconductor, Linear Tech, Maxim, Toshiba & Varta to create the SMBus, Smart battery, & smart charger concepts & specifications. As an industry body we literally wrote the book on smart batteries.
As you’ll see below, Energizer’s IPE Group later became the management nucleus of Inspired Energy.
In November 1999, Moltech Corp. acquired Energizer Power Systems creating Moltech Power Systems, Inc.
